It’s the end of the road for the Nothing Phone (1). No More Updates – We Have a Fix!

The Nothing Phone (1) won’t be getting the upcoming Android 16 update, which Google is set to release next month. The company has confirmed this in a statement, saying the phone “will not support Android 16, but it will still receive security updates.”

Given the phone’s 2022 launch with Android 12 and its promise of three major OS updates, this news isn’t entirely unexpected. The phone has already received its promised updates, moving from Android 12 to Android 15.

The company has delivered on its promise to continue supporting the phone with security patches for the long haul. However, if you’re looking for a device that’ll stay current with the latest software for years to come, it might be time to explore other options.

Coincidentally, Nothing is gearing up to unveil its Phone (3) in July, a flagship model priced around £800 that’s poised to take things to the next level.

THE FIX

Even though security updates have officially ended for the Phone 1 that doesn’t mean you have to stop using the device. In comes the XDA world of flashing custom ROMs.

I used to be a flashaholic dating back to my Google Nexus days. Its been a while, but since I left the community has continued to thrive. I self thought myself and the community is generally helpful with any questions or comments.
